Romance-seekers: look no further than Watercolours, a one-bedroom, two-bath corner condo poised three floors above the sea in the St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados.

Tuck into your own glass-enclosed nest with your sweetheart and spend late mornings in a luxury king-sized bed. Two floor-to-ceiling windows meet at a right angle in this spectacular corner bedroom, so a 270-degree view of the sea is all yours—from moonlit night to Technicolor morning.

Or read side-by-side on a lounging couch in an enclosed patio that, when you open the sea-view window running the length of the wall, lets in warm Caribbean breezes and the hush of rolling waves.

Then prepare a terrific meal in your compact kitchen outfitted in stainless steel and stocked with all appliances, cookery, and dinnerware you could possibly need.

The market is a short stroll away, so you can easily get all the ingredients you need to cook at your home away from home. But why cook when the street right outside is lined with fabulous restaurants.

WHAT MAKES WATERCOLOURS SPECIAL?

This is our own personal home, which we rent when we’re traveling or visiting our families. For that reason, Watercolours has all the spotlessness, inviting décor and comfortable furnishings of a personal home (because it is!), and it provides absolutely everything you need to feel as at home here as we are.

We chose the name Watercolours because of the hues that greet you when you step through the door—from the artwork and designer furnishings in shades of blue, beige and gold, to the dazzling sapphire sea.

This spot, on the southern shore of Barbados, is where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean and the result combines the colors of paradise with the energy and white-capped waves of the Atlantic.

ABOUT THE LOCATION

At Watercolours, you’ll be within an easy walk to all of the St. Lawrence Gap’s authentic local restaurants, shops, and a grocer, plus a 7-minue walk to two great beaches. Or swim from the very private beach outside the condo.

Save the money and hassle of renting a car and take a $20 taxi (with tip) from the airport to the condo, and then walk everywhere or catch the $2 island shuttle.

The oceanfront here at Watercolours is a perfect little halfmoon of a beach, just big enough for entry into the bath-warm water where you might even enjoy the company of a giant, gentle sea turtle.

And there’s a swimming pool on the property, too, for humans-only swimming. At sunset, enjoy the gold and pink skies as you watch the setting sun from the island's only privately owned jetty in your back yard.

If Watercolours is unavailable for the dates you’re traveling, I would be happy to show you other beautiful seafront Barbadian condos in the St. Lawrence Gap. Please contact me and let’s start planning your vacation to Barbados :)

All best regards,

St Lawrence Gap / Oistins , Christ Church , Barbados

BARBADOS, THE SOUTH COAST, & THE ST. LAWRENCE GAP

The south coast of Barbados is known for its beautiful white beaches, the famous Oistins Fish Fry on Friday nights, and its friendly vibe where you'll find locals (called Bajans) and tourists alike.

The St. Lawrence Gap ("gap" means "street") is the area on the south coast that is a favorite destination for both locals and tourists. Lots of quaint small businesses, delicious restaurants, colorful shops, and more—all within walking distance of your condo. A car is not necessary; a taxi to and from the airport is likely all you’ll need.

Known as "The Jewel of the Caribbean," Barbados has more repeat visitors than any of the Caribbean islands and, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), 34% of all arrivals to Barbados are repeat visitors. It's easy to see why: The climate averages ideal temperatures in the winter of 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit and in summer a warmer but still lovely 88-92. Gentle trade-winds from the sea keep us cool and we rarely turn on the air-conditioning, although it's available throughout our unit. People are friendly, the sea is crystal clear, and the rum fantastic.

A perfect holiday getaway. If you have any questions, I invite you to contact me about this or any of the vacation rental properties I offer. We are experts on all things Barbados, so feel free to ask about the must-see places and activities to explore during your trip. I know your holiday time is limited—I will do everything I can to help you make the most of your stay in beautiful Barbados.

Thanks for looking,

Marvellous views and ambience

Date of Stay:

Watercolours was wonderful to stay in. You can lie in your bed and enjoy almost 270-degree views of the calm Caribbean sea... perfect to wake up to. We even saw some turtles swimming past our pier. The windows actually open, concertina-style so you feel like you're a calm sailing ship, with the gentle surf sounds wafting up. Jane and Greg decided to enclose their patio, making it into a lovely sun-room, but we also opened those concertina windows on some cool mornings, and enjoyed our coffee there. And of course there's the pool and the small private beach for serious tanning and swimming. It was fun to literally step out of the building and onto Barbados' world-famous St. Lawrence Gap, bustling with fine restaurants and night-life. And when it was time for bed, all the windows are double-glazed for noise reduction, so we slept like babies. Because this apartment is owner-occupied for most of the year, availability is limited, but we're already planning our return to our little piece of heaven!

Absolute elegance!

Date of Stay:

We stayed in Watercolours in Aug '14 and had the time of our lives. This one-bedroom apartment is just beautiful and the views of the sea outside are vast and glorious. On the third floor, you really GET a view - it's actually the best view of the Caribbean Sea I've ever seen. It helps that you can open the windows the entire expanse of the walls!!!! The patio is enclosed, so you can have it as part of the interior of the apartment or open it up to the sea. I really liked this feature. We opened up the enormous window at the patio and just let the fresh sea breeze come inside. The restaurants in the Gap are really good (not cheap tho). Our first day we got in late so just went across the street to eat at Crave, literally ten steps from the front door of the condo building. We didn't do any research for our first night's meal and were surprised to get a great meal and really friendly service. There was a jazz singer who was amazing. (We learned she comes every Sunday night.) Other nights we went to Apsara next door to the condo building (WOW sea views and very romantic), Harlequin (faces the Gap for good people-watching), and Southern Palms when we spent the day at Dover Beach about a 5-min walk from the condo. There are others, lots of others. We have already booked our return vacation with Jane .. we are so excited to return to this beautiful apartment and to the very special island of Barbados.

What a View!!! WOW

Date of Stay:

We stayed at the Watercolours condominium from February 21st 2015 for 9 nights and it vastly exceeded our expectations. The view was amazing and the condo was just perfect, in fact much better than the photos. Everything needed for a perfect stay was provided, and Jane and Monica were extremely accommodating throughout our stay. It is a wonderful place and we highly recommend it. The worse thing was leaving . Irene & Viggo

Slice of Heaven

Date of Stay:

The views, the views, and the views were spectacular. The minute you slide the walls open you are enraptured with the breath-taking views of the coastline and the sound of the surf. It is like being adrift on the ocean. The location in the St. Lawrence Gap was convenient to restaurants and music venues, yet the minute you entered the condo the noise from the nightlife disappears and all you can hear is the roll of the surf. The condo was well appointed and had all the comforts one would need for an enjoyable vacation. Every morning we would open the curtains and be beguiled by the views of the ocean and sky. Had great fun on a catamaran tour with 'Cool Runnings'. Picked us up at condo and returned us to condo at end of day. Recommend Brown Sugar, Coffee Barbados Cafe, and Cafe Sol. Make sure you go to Oisten's Friday night Fish Fry. Thank you for such a relaxful vacation.
